Another 24hrs and another haul of beasties to study and document. Once ISIS was recovered and the samples removed the vehicle was prepared for its next dive - the dreaded swath. Swath is where we map the seabed. We fly the ROV roughly 40m above the seabed - its dark, you can't see anything and each of our lines are rough 2km long - which takes hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and..... you get the point! When we are conducting swath we fly the ROV using a touch screen. We can press "Step Forward" and the ROV will fly forward, you press "Step Right" and ISIS will lateral right. That simple.

We had the most amazing sunset - with the sky turning all manner of colours.

Anyway, we are about to recover the ROV and begin transmitting to Cork, Ireland to pick up an engineer to look at one of our onboard systems and then back to Whittard and resume science.
